A total of £472,538 was awarded in grants with the Business Support Programme accounting for grants to 44 schools to support an extra 207 children. Five companies assisted with staff volunteering by playing maths games and reading with pupils who completed our programmes which assisted a further 100 children.

Raising the Trust’s profile and partnership working is also crucial to demonstrating our impact and helping to obtain further funding. We developed alliances with 25 organisations including the establishment of a Business Advisory Group comprising 12 organisations who offered in-kind advice and the facilitation of discussions with potential sponsors.
Flagship activities last year included a Reception at the sumptuous Speaker’s House in March 2010, with a keynote speech from John Varley, CEO of Barclays Bank and the production of three films, one of which was shown at the National Association of Headteachers' conference in April 2010. Film footage of the Trust’s partnerships with Barclays was introduced by MP Ed Balls at the launch of the Employers and Education Task Force – a government backed organisation that produces guides and a website to help foster school and business relationships.
In addition to this film exposure, over 10.4 million people read about our programmes in the media thanks to compelling case studies of our literacy and numeracy results and MP visits to schools. New Philanthropy Capital, a charity that advises funders on social causes to invest in, applauded our Every Child Counts programme in its ‘Count Me In’ numeracy report including an endorsement of our sponsorship model.
